The MPDC Board of Directors is excited to announce its selection of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace Interim CEO Kate Bennett. Monica Dean will join MPDC on February 9, 2026.
Ms. Dean has worked at the intersection of housing, equity, and community empowerment her entire career. She has strong roots in Roxbury and is a longtime resident. She has spent the last several years as Director of Housing at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) in New York City, where she led strategic initiatives and cross-sector partnerships that generated a $900 million affordable housing pipeline; expanded access to capital for minority and nonprofit developers; and strengthened the capacity of over 100 emerging development firms.
Prior to her time at LISC, Ms. Dean served here in Boston as Vice President at Opportunity Communities, and Director of Community Organizing and Resident Services at Nuestra Comunidad. She designed and managed programs that promoted housing stability, financial resilience, and resident leadership—values deeply aligned with MPDC’s legacy.
“My connection to Madison Park runs deep”, said Ms. Dean. “Over the years, I have collaborated with MPDC on housing, resident services, and advocacy initiatives, and have long admired its role as a model for equitable development and community ownership. I understand both the opportunities and challenges of advancing a mission-driven organization in today’s complex housing environment, and I am passionate about ensuring that Roxbury continues to thrive as a place where long-time residents and new families can live, work, and prosper together.”
Ms. Dean holds an M.P.P. in Urban Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University as well as an M.Ed. from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
