In the Boston Globe: Black leaders are developing Nubian Square. Can they revitalize the economic heart of Black Boston?

On March 23rd, 2023, the Boston Globe shared interviews with “10 Black leaders involved in redeveloping Nubian Square,” most of them with long-standing ties to the Roxbury community. MPDC’s CEO, Leslie Reid, was featured; when asked about how residents have been included in ongoing development projects within the neighborhood, she responded, “long-term residents are experiencing some development fatigue,” Reid continued to explain that involving the Roxbury community within these processes is crucial, stating, “there is an equilibrium or balance that we need to achieve.” The article also goes on to highlight Parcel 3 Roxbury, a new development project spearheaded by HYM Investment Group and My City at Peace, that plans to completely transform a long-vacant 7.7-acre plot in Lower Roxbury into a new home for the Embrace Boston museum, 144 homeownership units, multiple parks, and 2,400 permanent jobs.
