Thanksgiving: A Time to Give Back, and Give Thanks

11.29.2017

On Thanksgiving while families gathered together to share a good meal and make memories with loved ones, MPDC staff, partners, and the Roxbury community came together to give back. Thanks to the joint efforts of our Community Action team and United Way, we were able to distribute turkeys with all the fixings to over 100 MPDC residents in time for the holiday. Our staff, resident leaders, resident service coordinators, and MPDC property managers all came together to give back to those in need. United Way even coordinated transportation to deliver the turkey bags via UberEats.

On Thanksgiving morning, our Public Safety/VIP team in partnership with our residents and apparel sponsor, ILMF, organized the first annual flag football turkey bowl at Edna Bynoe Park in Orchard Gardens. Over 70 residents, young and old, attended the game and enjoyed music, hot chocolate, food, and great company! A special thank you to ILMF Apparel co-owners Ty Young and Jason “Hops” Collins for assisting with planning the game.
