SUMMARY:Roxbury International Film Festival at Hibernian Hall
DESCRIPTION:Hibernian Hall is thrilled to be a host venue for the screening of two films during the 2017 Roxbury International Film Festival. \nStreet Scenes 15\nDirected by Robert Lamothe\nStreet Scenes 15 shows the passion\, dedication\, and excitement of the people that are part of the Fight for 15 movement to gain a livable minimum wage. As a movie goer\, it’s very enjoyable to see the expressions of joy and determination on the faces of people dedicated to making economic social justice a reality. Lively social justice music was a big part of the rallies and marches that makes Street Scenes 15 great fun to watch. Passionate and informative speakers bring home the great need for a $15 an hour minimum wage that is an important part of the current national debate. It was filmed from 2014 to 2016 in Boston Massachusetts. \nI Know A Man…Ashley Bryan\nDirected by Richard Kane\n“I Know a Man … Ashley Bryan” is a story about a 93 year-old artist who skips and jumps in his mind like a child. Yet he is a spiritually deep and erudite creative genius and poet/illustrator of 50 children’s books\, maker of magical puppets and sea glass windows from found objects inspired by his African heritage. Ashley lives on the remote Cranberry Islands off the coast of Maine and has been using art his entire life to celebrate joy\, mediate the darkness of war and racism\, explore the mysteries of faith\, and create loving community. \nGeneral Admission: $12 \nBuy Tickets\nFor more information on the 2017 Roxbury International Film Festival visit:\nhttp://www.mfa.org/programs/series/the-roxbury-international-film-festival
