The mission of Madison Park is to foster the social, physical, economic and cultural renaissance of the Roxbury community by promoting the economic self-sufficiency and social well being of low and moderate income residents and advocating for an equitable share of private and public resources. Madison Park Development Corporation Financial Literacy Programs

Madison Park Development Corporation is committed to educating residents in our service area on the complex subject of money management. Our financial literacy programs are designed to assist individuals in making wise decisions in saving for long term goals, credit repair, debt management, and making large purchases. Each course consists of a package of educational materials and a lively, informative discussion on the subject matter. Course participants leave with tools to address their personal financial situation and a plan to achieve their goals.

Financial Fitness

Our Financial Fitness program, funded by NeighborWorks, is an 8-hour course on money basics and personal financial management. Topics for discussion are goal setting, banking options, budgeting, debt management, savings options, and credit management. In addition to the course time, each participant is eligible for a one-on-one consultation to review the participant's credit report, establish a budget, and when necessary, a plan for debt management. All are welcome to attend regardless of income and employment status. To register for the next class, please contact Dave Ellis at or call 617.849.6234 and leave your name, address, and telephone number. These meetings will take place at Hibernian Hall, 184 Dudley Street, Suite 400. Attendance at all 4 meetings is mandatory for successful completion of the Financial Fitness Program.

Individual Development Accounts

Madison Park Development Corporation has begun an Individual Development Account (IDA) program. This program helps low-income families purchase assets to improve the quality of life for their families. Each participant's program savings will be matched 3:1 for a savings up to $2,000 and a savings match up to $6,000. The savings must be used for qualified expenses when purchasing a home. Anyone participating in the IDA program must first successfully complete the financial fitness program and attend financial literacy and homebuyer training seminars. The program will begin June 2007 and homes must be purchased by June 2010.
