Manager of Communications and Marketing
Position Description
The Manager of Communications and Marketing is responsible for public outreach, advertising, and development of collateral materials for all productions sponsored by Hibernian Hall, a program of Madison Park Development Corporation. As a regional, multicultural arts center we sponsor an active calendar of events in theater, dance, music, literature, spoken word, film, video, and photography. Effectiveness of efforts in audience development is measured against specific goals for membership and ticket sales.
Responsibilities
- drafting press releases, media advisories, calendar listings and public service announcements, and distributing approved materials to media outlets of all types;
- ensuring appropriate and adequate coverage of Hibernian Hall events and initiatives including feature interviews, previews and reviews;
- documenting events; editing and archiving photographs and video clips;
- designing promotional materials for print/web using PhotoShop/Dreamweaver;
- posting events for online ticket sales using Vendini;
- maintaining patron database, organizing email lists into segments such as schools and community centers, and designing email blasts using iContact;
- managing content of Hibernian Hall’s media-rich website, including an events calendar, blog, and links to social media, using WordPress;
- updating Hibernian Hall’s Facebook and Twitter pages and YouTube Channel; developing and implementing strategies to use social media to increase audience;
- conferring with Artistic Director to develop strategy to promote events, and then independently and creatively implementing the strategy;
- collaborating with Resource Development Manager to promote Friends of Hibernian Hall and other donor cultivation strategies.
Qualifications
· A persuasive portfolio of graphic, audiovisual, and writing samples;
· Strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work well with diverse cultures, and a commitment to working in a low-income to moderate-income community;
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; thorough understanding of spelling and grammar rules; expertise in proofreading and copyediting;
· B.A. in a pertinent field such as marketing, public relations, advertising, graphic design, or digital media technologies desired, or equivalent experience.
